Hi, my name is Kim Madsen. I started my career with animals, a young woman in a mixed veterinary practice as a vet tech. I went onto other ventures, but my true passion for dogs began with my pet store adoptee, Otto, a long haired dachshund. Then came Daisy, a very special Great Dane who taught me the many valuable lessons of owning and caring for a giant breed dog. Then came Sam, the English Cocker Spaniel who is now 13 and still loves to fetch pine cones. My love, understanding and connection with dogs blossomed into a dog training career as a Behavior Therapist and Trainer. As a trainer, the rescues began to show up in all different circles with all different needs, like Fergus (pictured). While training I realized there is an unmet need for dogs to be socialized and trained in a professional canine based setting. That's when the idea of starting a dog daycare first blossomed. Fast forward, here we are launching my dream and passion, helping families and dogs one day at a time in a safe and loving environment. We are proud to be offering what I believe to be a unique and special place for dogs to learn to be dogs, with loving leadership and dedication, and with a few special touches.
Ellie - a miniature Schnauzer and my first rescue/re-home, she was adopted from family members and lived out her life with us.
Coop - a tall feisty little Boston Terrier and a client surrender. He was just grew up in the wrong environment. At 5 years old he came to me, and after many months with me and dedicated training and stability, he now lives his best life with friends here in Vernon.
Fergus - what a nice boy, he was a young dog only 11 months when surrendered by clients. He was a formidable breed mix. We bonded so fast and he was a great companion for Sam and loved to swim with me. He lived out his life with me and Sam. We miss Fergus dearly.
Spike - my first Shepherd, and a very special boy. He was surrendered at 8 months as a 'dangerous dog' and has proven to be anything but. Spike is full of love, very gentle with people and other dogs, and is my big fun, boy who loves to fetch and have jobs to do.
Ferdinand - a blue nosed pitty, he was brought to me through a rescue in Texas having been adopted out to a family in Kelowna who decided after 2 weeks to send him back to Texas. The rescue called me to keep him from being euthanized, and Ferdinand stayed with me for three years. The most gentle of souls, Ferdinand was a bait dog in Texas and was gentle as a daisy. In March 2024, I found him the most perfect forever home and he now lives his life with balance and peace.
Buddy - labeled with "cocker rage", Buddy was an outcast, both his vet and his third owner gave up on him. A local rescue asked me to step in, and Buddy lived with me until he went over the rainbow just this past spring, deaf and mostly blind . He's a perfect example that you cannot judge a dog's behavior without getting to know the pup himself. He had defensive aggression, and was a feisty old fart. But so full of love, character and so obedient and loyal. We miss him so very much.
